interview with an emerging blogger An interview with an emerging blogger – Prerna Agarwal (http://prernashealthguide.com/) who has tasted success in her field and sharing experiences of starting blogging with a readymade website.

Interview conducted by Manju Aju, a blogger, an entrepreneur, homemaker, a proud mother of a bubbling boy aged 5.
Manju: Hello Prerna.
Thank you for sparing your valuable time to hold the interview.
Introduction by Prerna:
Prerna: Hi!  Welcome all to the world of blogging.
I am currently an Engg and Health Consultant with a couple of years experience. I completed my M.C.A(Masters in Computer Application) along with my job. Due to my medical condition I had to leave it. Sitting idle being a patient is really difficult for me, as I am not in habit of that. I started searching for work from home, after searching I start working as content writer for a Health niche website and again new journey of being a content writer started. After few years I feel that I should have some independent platform where I can share my own articles and luckly I found that I can start my own website.
Now I take pride in saying that I’m a part time blogger and also contributing to my family by owning a website.
Manju:  How did you start your website? What prompted you to start a website?
Prerna: I worked as a content writer for 3 years earlier. I wanted a platform where I can share my own articles and stuff. When I surf on internet to find such kind of platform I decided to start my own website. Also managing a website is also a good source of earning money.
Yeah..I need to add that starting a website is a good means of income not only for me but for other home makers and for people who have an hour to spare a day.
Manju:  What is your experience on managing a blog?
Prerna: I have good experience on managing a blog. It is quite easy to post articles and the software is quite user friendly. If I get stuck somewhere then I take help from customer care. Problem resolution complete and I’m back to blogging.
Manju:  How did you bring traffic to your site when you started blogging? What are the resources you made use of for publicity?
Prerna: Starting a website is really new for me and initially I really don’t know how to bring traffic and I really thought that it is one of the most difficult tasks to generate traffic on website. Then I created profile on social networking sites like Facebook, Google+ and I post my articles with the reference of my website.
Recently I have created profile in Twitter and Linkedin and I post my articles with the reference of my website.
I was also suggested to post links of my website on different sites like Reditt, StumbleUpon, then I saw changes in graph and an increase of traffic on my website.
A major learning – Regular updation of posts and addition of new article will help in generating more traffic to the site.
Manju:  How do you allocate your time for blogging? Have you made any schedule or time table?
Prerna: I love to allocate a time for blogging, when I switch on my laptop for the first time in a day first I complete my blogging. After completing it I start searching for content for the next article. I also love to play games online, so I always complete my homework in advance. I always keep related articles and other stuff in advance with me ready, this will help me save time which I can spend in making my site more attractive and therefore generate traffic. If some new idea clicks in my mind when I am not in front of laptop I make note of it and after blogging I plan to implement ott.
There is no such timetable for blogging because this is the ultimate goal for me so I tried to spend most of time on blogging.
Manju:  How was your glide path in terms of visitors? Did it annoy you?
Prerna: Initially it was very bad, as I don’t know about link building, I was not on social networking sites. But when I come to know all my mistakes and start posting my articles on social networking sites and I got response too, this build new confidence in me.
Manju:  When you don’t feel like blogging, what are you doing?
Prerna: Sometime I really don’t feel like blogging at that time I will explore more how to generate traffic on website. I also love to do creative things and to enhance my creativity I try to learn creative software like Photoshop.
Manju:  What is your opinion about readymade websites?
Prerna: Readymade websites is one of the good options for those who want to work from home but won’t have any idea on “How to start with”. Readymade website is quite cheap than any other website company, easy to understand and handle. One can use all features of the website from the day 1 when it is delivered to you.
Manju:  What were the WORST mistakes you made as a newbie? Have you ever felt like quitting it?
Prerna: Mine Worst mistake was irregular blogging and also was not aware about link building. When my website was ready and handover to me then I thought that first I should collect content for the site then will post on that. But really it is totally wrong concept, soon I understand my mistake and start blogging regularly also I understand the concept of link building and start using it.
That is so true that initially I was getting disappointed with the graph of my website but it never came in my mind that I should quit this. Inspite of this I always think about new ways of running my website and slowly –slowly I come to know about my mistakes and trying to rectify it.
Manju:  What is your message to the upcoming bloggers?
Prerna: I only want to say that you need to have patience, be a smart worker. Make 100% use of internet, search for new things, implement it and set your own goals and results.
For new bloggers I would recommend selecting a readymade website as you can start business from Day1. A reliable webhosting service is essential for reliability .
This is only the beginning…I still have many tips and tricks to implement and miles and miles to go…
Manju:  Thank you once again for giving me this opportunity. Best wishes for all your future endeavors.
Prerna: It was a pleasure talking to you and exchanging views on blogging. Be in touch.

“How to Optimize Your Blog Posts”.

You need to focus on the 7 key areas of on-page SEO to improve Search Engine rankings. This has been proved to be beneficial time and again.

Conduct Keyword Research:

You need to conduct keyword research by typing the words in the search box. Keyword research is one of the most important, valuable, and high return activities in the search marketing field. Typing the words into a search box. Refer picture shown below.

You need to rank for the ‘right’ keywords that will boost your blog posts higher in search engine rankings. By conducting keyword research you will not only learn which terms and phrases to target with SEO, but will also learn more about the customer requirements.

You will be able to target the right kind of visitors to your blog website. When you conduct research for keyword you can predict the shifts in demand , the variations in market, you can respond to market conditions and produce products, update your services. These are the qualitative information the web searches are depending upon and they are actively seeking for. In the history of marketing, there has never been such a low hurdle to entry in understanding the motivations of consumers in virtually every niche.

Focus on Low-Competition Keyword phrases:

You need to focus on low competition keyword phrases. Do not target on highly competitive keyword with on-page optimization as it will not benefit for blog posts and blog website. You may be wondering how to identify the right keyword or keyphrase that are competitive.

We have given two key phrases for reference as used on this article. Type your keyword or keyphrase into the Google search using quotations for e.g: (“Conduct Keyword Research”) and then look for the number that appears below the search box.

Figure 1:How to optimize your blog posts

Figure 2:How to optimize your blog postsIf the number is big and over 75,000, you should avoid it as it is highly competitive. If the search number is smaller as indicating low competition in figure 2, it will be appropriate to include the keyword or keyphrase in your article and score a higher ranking.

Do not overstuff keywords in your blog posts. It is considered Black hat trick or strategy. Keyword stuffing is a wrong method since it is an attempt to manipulate search engine rank your blog post higher. Now filtering method has enabled Google to identify all black hat methods. 2 to 5 % keyword density is ideal for your article.

Choose One Keyword or Phrase, and then Write Your Blog posts

When you select a keyword or keyphrase with low competition, you need to attract traffic by writing a bog posts around that keyword / keyphrase. You need to ensure the article / blog posts is adding value and delivers quality to the reader. Use Your Keyphrase In Your Post Title and Title Tags

Use the keyphrase in the title of your post and in your title tags. The single most important on-page SEO factor is the title tag. If you want a page to rank for a specific keyword phrase, make sure that phrase is in the title tag.

Also make sure the page you’re targeting is the most relevant page on your site for that keyword phrase. If that’s the case, including your keyword phrase in the title tag is natural. It benefits your audience by letting them know what information they will find on the page, and it clearly indicates to search engines what your page is about.

Repeat the Keyphrase in Your Blog posts.

Integrating your specific target keywords within the content of a page can certainly have an impact on page rankings because it’s a very strong signal that tells search engines what that page is about. However, there’s a very fine line between acceptable use and unacceptable overuse of keywords.

As a rule of thumb, try to include your keyphrase early on in your article or in a H2 tag. While this may not have a huge impact on your rankings, it will help show your readers that they’re reading the right piece of content.

Use the Keyphrase in your Meta Description tags

Using keywords in your meta description tags does not help you rank higher. Google has openly stated in 2009 that the keywords meta tags does not rate the blog posts higher. However, by including them and when people search on Google for a specific keyword, Google bolds the keyphrase in the search results. The final result is that this will encourage people to click on the search results even though it will not hep rank higher.

Include suitable Images Related to Your Keyphrase

The ideal way to include images is to check compatibility with the content. When you publish your articles, ensure that you find related images and use your keyphrase in the “Alt description” of your image. This is beneficial for two reasons: first, it helps search engines see that you’re trying to create a complete piece of content, and second, it’s great for accessibility.

For e.g when you are writing an article on “conduct keyword research” include the same keywords or key phrase in the image and alt text too.

The above seven key points on page SEO when applied to your blog posts will enable you to optimize your Blog posts. These were few valid points on SEO for Beginners. If you have experienced any other key factor do mention in the comments to help us reapply.
